Basically I’ve come to the conclusion that the best ways to burn fat are the following:

Food Combining

That is eating the right food groups in combination in the right quantities and at the right times to produce optimum results for each individual in terms of the metabolic burn and optimum energy levels.

These aspects need to be tailored to the individual physical and metabolic type. Dr Mercola takes it even further and suggests that you need to also tailor it to the individual “Nutritional Type”.

Personally, I also believe that personality type plays a role in this process as well.

Fat Burning Expert

I’ve read stuff written by a lot of people over the years about ‘fat burning’. And there are lots of good ideas that can help.

There is a guy named Jon Benson who has developed a series of programs to teach people how to burn fat effectively – get the weight off and keep it off. He started out incredibly out of shape and headed for serious trouble physically until he woke up one day and decided to change his life.

The stuff I have read of his is full of applicable information that makes a lot of sense to me.

I would highly suggest that if you need help in this area or just want to get in shape, check out his system, it’s pretty cheap actually and in my opinion, well thought out and thoroughly developed.

At least take a look at this if you are serious, I’m certain that you will find the information beneficial and helpful.

He wants to help you burn 10 pounds of fat in 10 days. This guy has had a lot of success with clients and has a really good reputation.

My Criteria For Physical Training

There are all kinds of routines and work out programs. In fact, this is a huge industry in itself. The most effective system is, however, the one people actually use. To me the K.I.S.S. principle is important in this mix. If it’s not easy, people don’t do it. Pure and simple.

My personal favorite choices are here:physical conditioning.

Discipline goes a long way but to my way of thinking, an effective program has to be:

•    Easy to remember

If people have a hard time remembering complex combinations, they will quit the program – or at least a very high percentage will.

•    Mobility

We have become such a mobile society, that a good training regimen must be portable and if we use equipment it must be as well.

•    Short – say 15-20  minutes max

Western attention spans are shrinking all the time. The media know this. That’s why they always speak in 10 second sound bites for a higher retention and comprehension rate.

This factor is particularly important in the beginning of a new training regimen. As people get in shape and start enjoying the practice, they tend to extend the training program as they become more competent and feel better.

Working up to 45 minutes or an hour every day makes sense over a period of time. 

•    Get results quickly

People who are out of shape who start working out, for the first time in a long time, need to get results quickly or they will quit.

Eat Healthy Food and Develop a Healthy Schedule

•    When You Eat

When you eat is very important. You need to time it to your system requirements and then set up a regular regimen around that. This takes practice, observation and some time to organize.

Jack LaLanne never eats after 9:00 p.m. and has not had a desert since 1929.
 
•    Portioning

The best way to burn fat is to consume less calories than you burn. So eat less food. Overeating is a habit – like super-sizing.

It’s nuts.

It’s an asinine practice. You don’t need to eat two pounds of food for nourishment – particularly deep fried, processed food. Two pounds of raw organic fruits and veggies is an entirely different scenario.

Start by having smaller portions of everything to eat. You’re not a jock on the football team or in the high school cheerleading squad anymore.

Eat less. You’ll feel better. You’ll burn more fat, you’ll use less energy processing your food and you’ll shed extra pounds without a lot of effort.

•    Healthy Natural Foods

It’s amazing to me how many people do not like to eat raw fruits and vegetables.

Maybe that has to do with the fact that so many grocery stores are now selling bio-engineered and irradiated produce that has very little nutritional value and no flavor because all the enzymes have been killed in the process.

Organic produce tastes really good and you don’t need as much to feel satisfied. It is rich in nutrients and live enzymes which are essential for health.  And I think one of the most effective ways to consume fresh produce and get the most benefit is to get a Vitamix and use it everyday.

Also choose to eat the antioxidant rich foods listed earlier in the book. Lots of benefits.

Now that is my ‘shoot from the hip’ analysis.

•    Strength Training

For a long time, the hype was that aerobics burned fat. Lately it has become common knowledge that strength conditioning is far more effective for burning fat that aerobics.
